7-year-old girl dies in Massachusetts drunk driving accident

4/17/2014

A Massachusetts woman has appeared in court to face charges involving the death of a 7-year-old pedestrian. According to prosecutors, the woman was under the influence of alcohol when she killed the young girl in a drunk driving accident. The victim’s mother also appeared at the hearing and was seen with tears in her eyes.

The mother and her daughter had been walking together, holding each other’s hands, when the woman struck them. The mother said that she was hoping for some kind of an apology from the allegedly drunk driver regarding her daughter’s death, but none was forthcoming. She said that her little girl had always been happy and was constantly taking care of the people in her life.

In addition to losing her child, the 26-year-old mother was severely injured in the collision herself. Since the accident, she has undergone multiple surgeries and suffered a total of four strokes. At this time, her medical bills owed amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars, and her attorney is trying to help her recover money to pay for those casts.

The severe injury and unfortunate loss of life associated with this Massachusetts motor vehicle accident is nothing short of heartbreaking. While nothing can ever be done to right this tremendous wrong, the mother of the girl who died may be able to seek financial restitution to pay for her medical care. She may also wish to pursue a wrongful death claim regarding the loss of her daughter. If successfully navigated, such claims could bring her some level of closure relating to the incident, and it could also provide compensation for damages, pain and suffering and other costs stemming from this drunk driving accident.
